Redsox Softball

Redsox acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we play and train, the Turrbal people, and pay respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

 GOOD LUCK to all Girls, Boys and Officials participating in the Queensland Under 14 State Championships in Redcliffe over the Easter break.             Play hard, play fair!!

         

Our annual Red and White Celebration is over for another year! Clubmates were recognised for seasons played and/or officiated, games played and individual performances!!!  Balloons, trophies, certificates all made an appearance. See 'NEWS' page for Perpetual Trophy recipients. CONGRATULATIONS ALL!!

          

     CONGRATULATIONS GUYS! Yes, on 16th March our A1 and A2 men’s teams competed in the Ipswich Grand-Finals … and they were both victorious! Kudos to all players, coaches and officials!

It is the hope of our Committee that all family and friends of our Club have been able to keep safe during Alfred's 'visit' to our City. He certainly left his mark on us all!  It was a summer season impacted by weather events and the BSA GRAND FINAL proved to be no different. Congratulations to all teams who were awarded premierships as result of earlier games. Thank you to the BSA Board for 'doing the very best you could' under trying circumstances ... your love for our game cannot be faulted. 

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!! At BSA’s June Spice Medal and Summer Awards Night (held ‘On the Green’ on 1st March) Redsox players and officials were heavily featured in the Association’s ‘night of nights’! During the balmy evening, we saw all BSA Representatives and respective Club Representatives acknowledged for their commitment to our game. On the Redsox side of the ledger, our recognised personnel were: Carol Vellnagel Junior Award Winner = Jemma C., Leigh Muller Award finalist = Georgie S., A3 Cooper/Waller Award finalist = Manda N., and A1 June Spice Medal finalist = Moe K. CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!

BSA thanked our Portfolio Member Chris B. for his dedication the BSA Scorers Committee. Redsox thanks the BSA Board members and volunteers who made the night so successful and a further congratulations to ‘Volunteer of the Year’ = Bern D. A well deserved accolade!!

CONGRATULATIONS to both Georgia S. (Under 16) and Jemma C. (Under 14) for their recent selection in BSA Representative teams. Good luck and train hard before the Queensland Championships. I’m sure you are very proud of your achievements … Redsox is!          

CONGRATULATIONS to the Softball Queensland Under 23 Men’s team! A great batting display from the very first turn at bat against Victoria (8 runs to 1) in an exciting, high-quality game at Redlands on Sunday 9th February. It saw many of our Clubmates in the field and batting box, batting hard and running fast. Coaches (Isaac and Shannon) and associated staff all worked hard for 6 days and worked together to become CHAMPIONS of AUSTRALIA, taking out the Laing Harrow Shield. Congratulations also to other Clubmates who worked as statisticians (Fiona and Chris), the QA staff and the many volunteers for running a very successful championships…. all your hard work paid off! Well done Everyone!  Congratulations to Ethan G. for receiving the ‘Best Batter Award’ at this tournament. Well batted!

At the Open Women's Nationals our Clubmates, Dorinda and Emilee, fought hard through horrid weather conditions, and therefore delays, to play the Grand Final against South Australia. So close to a win, in a thrilling game that went down to the last batter. Be proud of your efforts Ladies! 

CONGRATULATIONS to the Softball Queensland Under 23 team! A great comeback win against South Australia (8 runs to 5) in an exciting, high quality game at Downey Park (22nd Dec, 2024). It also saw our Clubmate Emilee take out ‘Best Picher of the Championships’… with Mackenzie playing a starring role in right field and then 2 of their teammates win Best Batter and Player of the G-F! A team of young Ladies, Coaches and associated staff  who worked hard and worked together to become CHAMPIONS of Australia. CONGRATULATIONS also to other Clubmates who worked as statisticians (Fiona, Chris and Shakira), QA and the many BSA volunteers for running a very successful championships…. all your hard work paid off, especially after the rainy start.                     

Time to share a tub of ice cream! Opponents moments ago and now sharing a treat… that’s what softball, and respect, are all about!

        

CONGRATULATIONS to Shianne S. on achieving the goal of 100 games for Redsox. Well done young lady! P.S. All 3 members of the family achieved 100 game milestones this year… that’s a first! 

          Two junior games were played in showery conditions and then, just before the heavens opened and cancelled the rest of the day’s play (16th Nov), we saw a very special presentation. CONGRATULATIONS to Jemma C. who just played her 100th game for REDSOX. All the important folk were there to witness a great player and great Club kid receive recognition for this milestone. Yahoo!!

            

                                                          

 It was a ‘double surprise’ at the park (26th October) …. a liitl’ Champion reached a milestone and a returning (11 years in the process) player hit 100 games too! Yes, Georgie S. just played her 100th game for Redsox… what an amazing feat for one so young. Keep playing hard and keep smiling Georgie! And it’s been a while between games for Redsox but Courtney S. also reached a milestone. Congratulations on having played your 100th game Courtney!

           

Congratulations to our ‘Club Captain’ Moe! A well deserved honour to a humble, honest, quiet player and person who will advocate for all Members of our Club. 

                The Queensland Government is providing a $200 'FAIR PLAY' voucher for children who play sport. It helps defray the costs of fees to participate in your chosen sport.
